Another buyout on France’s job site market
The French online recruitment landscape continues to consolidate. After StepStone’s acquisition of Sourcea last month, the French publicly listed Adenclassifieds are strengthening their market position. Rumours about the CadresOnline buyout had already spread in December, and last Thursday the transaction got finalised. The classifieds group paid 11.7 million Euro in cash.
Apart from that, the previous CadresOnline partnerships with Groupe Tests will be continued. That’s more than necessary, I would say, since the job site only delivers good results thanks to their specialised co-operations.
Thus, Publiprint, the biggest Adenclassifieds shareholder (and also part of the Figaro Group), are making themselves indispensable on the French market since strong sites like cadremploi and keljob (which is also part of StepStone’s Network and has a close partnership with Le Monde’s talents.fr) count among their members.
StepStone will have a tough time to find themselves an independent and strong position on the French job board market. The acquisition of the small Sourcea site will not have a great impact on the field.
Anyway, I think that Adenclassifieds did not have StepStone in mind when they planned the recent takeover. I bet that they are preparing themselves for the American newcomer that has entered the scene: the French careerbuilder version has been launched in December 2007. French job seekers will be more inclined to adopt the American job board model – rather than the Germans for example – since it is similar to the French one (standard vacancies with or without logo) and there is a big publishing house behind careerbuilder. This sounds like this year is gonna be very exciting for France’s career portal market. Finally, there are rumours of careeruilder signing an exclusive deal with Facebook. And Facebook is getting really big in France. Stay tuned.Another buyout on France’s job site market
